I read a story once about a man that was walking along the beach. In the distance he could see a small child bending down, picking something up and throwing it carefully out into the ocean.
When the man reached the little child he could see the child was picking up starfish that had washed up on the shore.
“What are you doing?” the man asked.
The child quickly replied, “I’m saving the starfish. Without my help, they will die”
The man smiled and said, “Look at all the starfish! There are miles and miles of beaches. You can’t possibly save them all, it is too huge of a task.”
The little child stopped and listened for a moment. Then he bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it carefully out into the ocean.
He turned to the man with a beaming smile on his face and said
“I helped save THAT one”!
Like washed-up starfish on the shore, there are millions of starving orphans on the other side of the world from where we live.

Bulamu means “Life” in the Luganda Language
Uganda has an estimated 2.5 million orphans, one of the highest numbers in the world!
Fifty one percent(51%) of the population is under 18!
The number of street children in Kampala is estimated at 10,000!
The lives of orphans are lives of hopelessness

There are currently over 100 orphan children living in Bulamu Children’s Village, with thousands more needing our help.
The mission of the Bulamu Children’s Village is to give hope and a future to AIDS orphans in Kampala, Uganda East Africa.
Through your generous donations, The Children’s Village provides wholesome Christian care including shelter, food, clothing, medical care and access to a high-quality education.
By attaining our mission, we will give every child a promising future so he or she will become a healthy, emotionally strong, well-educated and financially independent individual, contributing to the development of Uganda.
The average mortality rate in Uganda is 46 years. AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and meningitis are the main causes of death.
Because of the young mortality rate small children are left as orphans. These children have no resources and no social support. Exploitation of these children is very common. Many of the girls are abused physically and sexually while living on the streets. Prostitution can become a way of life…in order to survive.
Some children find themselves displaced by the war. Children in the north are at risk of being abducted by rebels of the LRA. If abducted, they are forcefully conscripted into the rebel armies.
There is a desperate need of intervention to relieve the orphan crisis.
